RIP The Govenor aka Big Gov Mattic

Peace...Yep I know it's been awhile between drinks but Fatherhood will do that to you...
My first post in quite a while is sadly a dedication to yet another fallen Hip Hop soldier and there doesn't appear to be a great deal of information on his passing.

Brick City aka New Jersey born and bred Aubrey Williams bka The Govener aka Big Gov Mattic was the true definition of an underground Emcee and Producer and DJ and he actually got his start in the late 80's as a member of the local Newark, New Jersey hip-hop collective Revolutionary Party of Terrace. The group formed in the late 1980's and included such up-and-comers as Redman and several rappers that would become part of the group Lords Of The Underground.

In the 1990's Gov Mattic teamed up with another local Newark hip-hop artist to form the duo Diezzle Don & Tha Govener. The duo released "Ill Funk Flow" in 1994 and the album "1995 (Year Of The Independent)" in 1995 with Gov releasing his first solo album in 1998 "Hell Up In Newark"

Gov continued on in the game and produced for Newark Brick Mob, Redman and Methodman, Lords of The Underground, Outsidaz and Pacewon, Runt Dawg as well as releasing many mixtapes and instrumentals.

EPK from Noo Trybe circa 1994.
