I had some spare time from Daddy duties so I was finally able to finish this up haha...word is born! man I don't know about you but I love riding on the train/bus in the mornings and evenings with a good compilation of medicine in my headphones to start the day right or end the day and set off the evening right...so here is one I have put together of all 2016 music in the hopes that you will enjoy this music as much as I do on your daily commute (if you have one) and that you find something new and interesting in the compilation.

R.I.P. Phife Dawg

Like so many around the World, I was completely stunned and at a real loss with the very sad passing (that stemmed from complications from diabetes that he had since 1990) of yet another legend in the music game, this time it was the late, great Phife aka Phife Dawg, aka The Five Foot Assassin aka Mutty Ranks aka Professor Diggy aka Dr. Pepper...An MC that loved the culture and was particular and serious about his chosen craft...as the Hip Hop Quotable from The Source mag in '91 below would attest to...

Phife was clever, witty and dope with his styles upon styles (but don't ever try to diss him, cause you don't know the half and word is born he got loose offa orange juice moneygrip!

Phife was often found guesting on Reggae/Ragga Hip Hop and R & B records and was an icon both in rhyming and Hip Hop fashion.

Phife was active in the rap game (and sport game) from 1990 to 2016 and he worked with some of the dopest MC's and Producers and before his death he was working on new material and was teaming up new talent like the dope Pro Era crew (check "Seek Well" on the compilation below) and come on who on this green Earth didn't love ATCQ?

This tremendous loss is the Beastie Boys without MCA, Run DMC without Jam Master Jay, Wu Tang Clan without Ol' Dirty Bastard, Lost Boyz without Freaky Tah etc...

I did plan to write up a lengthy tribute but there have already been many really well written articles out there already.

To be honest though...with the birth of our beautiful daughter Abbie (whom my Wife and I just love to bits :) finding time to update this blog has been a factor but I have some spare time now and I wanted to offer a compilation of some great Phife tracks, it would be all too easy to just go with the standard ATCQ classics so I have gone with some dope remixes, unreleased tracks, guest appearances and solo joints...I think every track here (36 tracks deep, so you can rock The Five Footer in your headphones while at work) represents (represents, represents) exactly how much of a loss Phife is to Hip Hop and entertainment in general.

Rest easy Malik...there will be another with the ill raspy voice or skills that you possessed and yes there is definitely a place in the Hip Hop hall of fame for you, you were such a huge part of my music listening through 1990 up to today.

R.I.P. Maurice White

Man it has certainly been an extremely unfair and tough 3 month period of losing so many Entertainment legends in such a short span of time...Maurice White (Earth, Wind & Fire The Pharaohs & The Ramsey Lewis Trio) was an integral part of Hip Hop culture and was sampled by so many diverse artists and producers.

I didn't see a need to do a large biography on Maurice White because there are plenty of those out there...instead here is a whole bunch of classic Hip Hop recordings, some personal faves that have sampled from the musical richness that Maurice White was involved in during his time on Planet Earth.

Nick Wiz – Cellar Sounds Volume 4: 1992-1998

No Sleep Recordings and production master Nick Wiz, return with the long-awaited fourth installment of the “Cellar Sounds” 2CD series. Again, this is a treasure chest of vintage mid-90's underground Hip-Hop; the majority of which has never been heard before! Again, Nick showcases why his studio “The Cellar” was a key location in the NJ/NYC underground scene. His unique fusion of filters, horns, smacking SP-1200 drums and dense bass-lines gave his work a signature sound and it is also why Wiz was the producer of choice for the legendary series of Echo Unlimited / Lyricist Lounge cassettes, “Underground Airplay”.

Still, Nick Wiz was most noted for his contributions to the Cella Dwellas “Realms and Reality” debut, as well as albums from the likes of Rakim, Mad Skillz, Chubb Rock and others. In between putting in work on these major label releases, he still dedicated himself to the cause of the unsigned artist. Prolific to say the least, Wiz constantly ran sessions and developed several groups at a time.

Artists like Shabaam Sahdeeq, Ran Reed, Chino XL, and Pudgee were mainstays in the underground radio- dominated Nineties scene, while others like Hardwe’re and Gauge the Mental Murderah are best remembered from sought after “random rap” 12”s. While a lot of the material produced and recorded by Wiz did find its way to release, countless other tracks remained stored away on DAT tapes for over a decade.

Found on this incredible 2CD set are selections from the highly collectable “Underground Airplay” tapes, unreleased remixes, and obscure demos from lyricists throughout NYC and New Jersey.

Forty-six tracks in total, spanning from Wiz’s early recordings in 1992 to his zenith in 1998, this is a true time-capsule of the Nineties underground Hip-Hop sound; presented in perfect digital quality! Part eight of the “For Those That Slept” series.

Peace and Season Greetings JMS readers...here is the final installment of the C.R.D.S. Presents-95 Da Illest series...

To be honest I forgot to finish and post this up before the blog name change so here it is...another jam packed volume of fat head nodding and classic Hip Hop (and with a fair bit of Erick Sermon and Redman beats, cameos and influences haha) from '95, most of these joints got much run on The Wednesday Nite Jam show and at all of the bars and clubs/parties etc that myself and my old crew used to play at...fat shout to Winston Spliff, Pops, Don Luchito, Jnr Ranks.

Also I'd like to send out a fat shout to to Fats Eardrum and Juicy from 1994 Hip Hop for some of these joints.

I'd like to wish all of my readers a very Happy Christmas and a very prosperous 2016.

I am honestly not sure how often I will post on this blog in 2016 as I am getting the best Christmas/Life gift I could ever get...Fatherhood:) but I will do my best to at least post on a regular basis.
