This is an updated version (higher quality versions -nothing at 192 kpbs or lower) of a Brand Nubian remix compilation I did up way back in 2009 (the links are long dead) but it only focuses on Brand Nubian and not solo Grand Puba (I will do a B-Sides, Remixes etc compilation at a later date), there isn't any point going into detail about how Brand Nubian are one of the greatest groups in Hip Hop history as it's all there in the first post.

This compilation showcases dope remixes from 1990-1996 and well the music indeed does all of the talking for the legendary New Rochelle, New York outfit.

Joint of The Week : A+ "Me and My Microphone" (1996)

This week's Joint of The Week is a butter track from 1996 from A+ featuring Q-Tip over a Buckwild track, it's a dope little ode to his microphone and the trials and tribulations that come with owning a microphone and contains samples from Hugo Montenegro and the late, great Issac Hayes

Kid Rap was pretty popular in the 90's and A+'s debut album The Latch Key Child certainly had it's moments but it wasn't an overly essential album but it was definitely an impressive debut for a 13 year old East Coast kid that was doing tracks with Tip, Prodigy, AZ and also had a dope remix from Da Beatminerz.

I have always enjoyed this one though and thought Tip and Plus made a good combination...God bless the child that can hold his own...

Album of 2010 and Posse cut of 2010...

 

Tampa Bay's own Producer/MC Celph Titled and legendary NYC producer have bought back that real Hip Hop with the really ill "Ninety Ninety Now" album, Celph spits over old banging Buckwild beats, complete with ill hooks and samples from classic Hip Hop records (I am sure I heard some Scott Lark in there and great cuts from Mista Sinista...and it is a recipe for the nothing but greatness, this feels and sounds like a classic album from the 90's and all of the guests Diamond-D, Sadat-X, Grand Puba, OC, RA The Rugged Man, FT,  Ryu, Vinnie Paz, Treach, Apathy, Majik Most, Dutchmassive all deliver top notch performances too.

Easy Mo Bee et al (add your favourite producers here-------------------------------------------------------------------) would be on because he really was/is a master of that dark straight raw New York shit (his drums and drum loops were always dope) and he flipped samples way before other producers found them.

Buckwild could also produce beats that could set you at ease as well, Reservoir Doggz-Back At Berth for a perfect example of a soothing piano sample or the laid back tone on Organized Konfusion's very heartfelt Invetro.

It's strange that Buckwild is not as acclaimed as he should be, maybe he was overshadowed by the other DITC members or something?, I don't know but I do know and remember that he was one of the names of classic 90's Hip Hop production and worked with pretty much everyone East & West Coast... I am really pleased that this compilation has been released because now today's kids can hear what they missed.

It must have been a hard process selecting all of those tracks (or they could have just seen Sentenza'SOHH's 2005 comps ha ha) and while I think that the 2 Disc comp was insane...I feel that a few dope and timeless joints were missed so here they are...enjoy
